“Walk with those seeking truth... RUN FROM THOSE WHO THINK THEY'VE FOUND IT. ”
― Deepak Chopra
A long time practitioner of Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow styles of Yoga, Kendra brings to her teaching a personal practice and study that has unfolded into a purpose to share. Born into the seventh life path journey (i.e. the number derived from your birth date that indicates the key themes of your ultimate life’s purpose), she finds balance between her analytical pursuits and spiritual experiences. Kendra hasn’t yet given the “Bye Felicia” to her office job career, but instead balances the workload with her practice and teaching to find self-awareness and connection in each day. Her inspiration from learning, practicing and teaching connects more pieces of the puzzle that is life each day.
Kendra's classes are a balance of dynamic standing flow sequences and variations of seated and supine poses to quiet the body for Savasana. Her goal is to help others find balance, strength and relaxation (maybe even a puzzle piece) within movement and attention to the body. Like others who are seeking the answers to life’s big and small questions, Kendra tends to get caught up with the narrative that’s going on in her head. Asana begins the training of the mind in Yoga. Asana trains the mind to be present for the felt experience of the body… We are either feeling into our feet or we are not. We are either balancing effort with ease in a pose or we are not. The body in a yoga pose is the place to start learning how to quiet our mind.
When not on the mat, you can find Kendra walking through the trails in Griffith Park or catching a concert somewhere in LA.
Kendra is trained with a 200Hr Yoga Alliance certification in the Hatha/Vinyasa style. She completed her training through the Awakened Heart, Embodied Mind program with teachers Hala Khouri, Julian Walker and Jay Fields at Exhale Center for Sacred Movement in Venice, CA. She is currently working towards her 300Hr certification through the Kripalu School of Yoga in Stockbridge, MA.
