Teaching & Practicing for Every Body

10-Hour Training, April 9-10, 2015

Times: 12:30pm-5:30pm daily

Price: $200 Early Bird by March 15  ($250 thereafter)

This weekend immersion focuses on teaching to students with injuries and limited mobility. We will focus on simple techniques to provide a well-rounded class in a public and private setting. We will cover:

  • Wall yoga to support and deepen a practice for individuals with limited ability to get up and down off the mat

  • Chair yoga to enhance a practice for all people, including those who are unable to use a mat space in a typical fashion

  • Pre and Post-Natal "crash course" to keep mothers safe in a public yoga class

  • Common injuries and their contraindications/modifications, including: knee injuries, shoulder injuries, hip injuries and back injuries. Receive a reference chart of questions to ask and proper suggestions to help people heal and avoid pain.

For teachers: This is a 2-day immersion, planned to give teachers a refresher as well as inspire creative teaching for a variety of conditions. Many applications - such as chair and wall yoga - can be used in a public class. Even in the absence of special conditions, these techniques provide a workshop-style experience for students to deepen their understanding of alignment and safety. If you are stuck in a creative rut in your teaching, this workshop will help bring fresh approaches and inspiration.

For non-teaching yogis: People of all backgrounds are invited to participate in this workshop. Over the weekend, we will have 4 practices using chairs, abundant props and support from the wall. It is a fun and creative way to explore yoga, and you will learn new things about your own practice while enjoying deeply rejuvenating sequences. You will gain tools to take with you into your home practice or public classes.
